I witness it’s beginning
Eyes squinting
Lips frowning
Body quivering
Then the giant deluge of emotions burst from your body
It’s too early for you to understand
It’s too early for me to explain
So I hold you while we both dissolve into tears
Kim at dVerse Poets requested quadrilles (poems with exactly 44 words) using the word “early”. Here is my submission.

Thank you! Glad I’m not alone in that…the struggle is real!

Thank you! Although it was not so “touching” in the moment 😂

This was so sweet… but we all have to learn that we cannot have chocolate for breakfast.

Thank you so much! I’m beginning to like the structure of the Quadrille. Challenging yet delightfully so!

Right? Any day that starts off with no tears is already a good day…hope you’re having one of those today!

I had chocolate hazelnut butter on my gluten-free toast with an egg for breakfast just yesterday. I’m glad you weren’t around to tell me “no.” 🙂

Lol! As a grown up – we can do whatever we want! 😉 I personally love Nutella, banana and peanut butter on sunflower toast (but don’t tell my kids that! Nutella is an after school treat for them!)

I actually can’t do Nutella because it has milk in it. I get mine from a local company, with flax seeds and other healthy stuff. 🙂 That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

i was that child, i feel so sorry for my mum, she struggled with my insistence that cake was breakfast food, i recall the same “its too early!” – lovely take on the prompt my dear! vivid and descriptive

I feel sorry for my mum too! I remember her saying, “you’ll understand when you have your own children” and of course, she was right!

I love the insoluble dilemma, too early to understand too early to explain. I think we evolved arms before speech, thank God. 💜 this!

Thank you! And I think you’re right about the evolution part!
